Unfortunately very few horse owners know that a lone horse cannot sleep lying down but only doze standing up. Horses will only sleep lying down when there is another horse to keep watch. Most behaviour problems stem from the stress a lone horse suffers which is why they should have a donkey or a wee pony for company.
