Hotel hires out goldfish for lonely guests

A goldfish called Happy is being hired out as a room-mate for hotel guests – at £5 per stay.

Hotel boss Jeff Riley provides the service to guests who want some extra creature comforts to come home to at the end of the day. Jeff said: “A lot of our guests spend many days away from home. It can be lonely.

“After a difficult day at the office, Happy is there to give unconditional love and a valuable sounding board.” Jeff said he may even add to his goldfish range at Happy Guests Lodge in Dutton, Cheshire.

He said: “Once guests have hired a fish I’m sure when they return they will want the same fish. They will have sort of adopted it in their minds and may have missed it between their stays.”

Fish looks sad.

My fish will eat out of your hand, but they only have unconditional love for fish flakes.

You're behind the times. Monaco Hotel in Seattle always puts a goldfish bowl in the room for singles.
