Man stabbed roommate in dispute over pair of underpants

One roommate is in jail and another is recovering from a stab wound following a fight in their Monroe County home on Monday morning over a pair of underpants, police said.

The roommates, 65-year-old men, were arguing about the underwear when Oscar Johnson Jr. allegedly entered Jeffrey Vipond's bedroom and stabbed him in the thigh with a steak knife, according to Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department in Pennsylvania.

Police were called to their home in Coolbaugh Township at about 7:45am. Johnson was taken into custody without incident. He is being held in Monroe County Prison on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment of another person and instruments of crime.

Vipond was taken to Pocono Medical Center-East Stroudsburg for treatment. Police did not say why the men were arguing over the underwear, but said they contacted other agencies because of unsanitary conditions in the home.
