Couple having sex in park caught by 25 cycling police officers

A couple engaged in an afternoon tryst in a Philadelphia park were caught with their pants down by 25 police officers earlier this week. Richard McBride, 37, and Jennifer Harvey, 41, were discovered at  4:22pm on Tuesday on a softball field bench in Naylor’s Run Park.



“She had her pants off and he had his pants down to his ankles, and they were having sex when the (group of bicycle) police rode into the park,” police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “Imagine their surprise. Both the couple and the bike officers were surprised.” The group of officers were together participating in the Upper Darby Police Department's annual police bike unit course. Upper Darby Lt. James Reif runs the training for area departments. This year 25 officers were enrolled in the school.

“We started the bike classes on Monday and the first day is spent in the classroom and the rest of the week is spent riding all through the township,” Chitwood said. “It was a beautiful day Tuesday and the park was filled with people, although there were none in their immediate vicinity until the police rode in. Lt. Reif was leading the pack of bike police into the park and the couple quickly pulled up their pants.

“She was seen leaning over a bench on the first base side of the field and the guy was standing behind her. The officers in the bike school were shocked when they saw the couple and the two people having sex in the park were shocked, too, when they saw the police.” Reif arrested the two and they face charges of open lewdness and disorderly conduct. They have been released on $30,000 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing on July 10 in district court.
