K-Y Intense Arousal gel caused post office evacuation

US Postal Service officials have determined the substance that caused an evacuation of the Guntersville post office in Alabama on Tuesday. Two post office workers were hospitalised as a precaution after they came into contact with the gel.

Officials said the liquid, originally believed to contain methanol, was KY Intense Arousal gel. Spokesman Tony Robinson said it contains ingredients used "to intensify sensation."

The post office had been evacuated at around 9am. Hazmat teams were called in to deal with the substance. First responders said they retrieved a large bag containing approximately 12-15 packages with the substance on it. Robinson said they later discovered the container for the substance late on Tuesday afternoon.

Postal officials haven't said exactly where the package was heading but it was to someone in the entertainment industry. Robinson said that, as they do in similar circumstances, they will contact the sender and advise them on how to better pack their packages to prevent future incidents.
