Lifeboat scrambled to save inflatable Mickey Mouse

A lifeboat crew was called to a rescue after reports of a man falling into the sea - only to find a large inflatable Mickey Mouse.

A concerned member of the public called Holyhead Coastguard after seeing the figure falling in the sea at Llandudno's North Beach at 7.45pm on Thursday.

An RNLI inshore lifeboat was sent out to investigate and found the large cartoon figure. Alan Sharp of Llandudno RNLI said: "Quickly arriving on scene the lifeboat crew found the casualty to be an inflatable Mickey Mouse.

After they had ascertained that although appearing somewhat deflated he was not in any actual difficulty, he was ferried ashore to the safety of the beach." Coastguards said the call had been made in good faith.
