Police called to domestic dispute found couple arguing about prostituting themselves in order to support child

A man and a woman were arrested on Friday after admitting to police they were prostituting themselves in order to support their child, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies arrived at the Lake Worth, Florida, apartment shared by Alexandra Dominique, 21, and James Rochester, 22, in response to a domestic dispute. Dominique told them the couple was arguing because “Rochester had introduced her to a life of prostitution and that he was also prostituting himself” in order to support the child, whose gender and age were not made available.

Dominique and Rochester told police they engaged in prostitution by walking in front of their residence - one the arrest report described as “filthy and unkempt,” with rotten food and dirty dishes in the sink and unflushed human waste in the toilet - or by placing ads on the website Craigslist. Dominique told police the child would be better off in the custody of the state.

While interviewing the couple, police noticed two grams of marijuana and paraphernalia “in plain view” on a living room table. Rochester admitted he had been smoking marijuana. Dominique and Rochester are both accused of child neglect, possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment. Rochester was released on $3,000 bail on Friday. Dominique remains at the Palm Beach County Jail on $3,000 bond.
