A Chaparral, New Mexico, man has been indicted on charges that he and a teenage boy burned down a mobile home after they had broken in, then stole electronics, appliances, furniture and porn DVDs. A Doña Ana County grand jury last week indicted Sergio Seanez, 18, on four felonies: arson, residential burglary, breaking and entering, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
On Aug. 22, Seanez and 17-year-old Daniel Rios allegedly used a rock to break into a mobile home in Tumble Weed Road, according to a criminal complaint filed in Magistrate Court. Once inside, the two reportedly stole televisions, kitchen appliances, office furniture and "multiple DVDs relating to Midget Pornography," the complaint states.
Seanez allegedly started a fire in the mobile home, took the stolen items to another Chaparral residence,. No injuries were reported. The mobile home and a recreational vehicle were destroyed. Less than a week after the incident, Seanez reportedly admitted during an interview with sheriff's deputies to stealing some of the items and later selling them. The next day investigators executed a search warrant, finding a large mirror and the porn DVDs.
Seanez has been held on bond at the Doña Ana County Detention Center since his Aug. 28 arrest. He was indicted on Thursday. Arson (over $20,000) is a second-degree felony. Residential burglary is a third-degree felony and the other two charges are fourth-degree felonies. Authorities charged Seanez with contributing to the delinquency of a minor because he admittedly "enticed and encouraged" Rios to participate in the crimes. Deputies had arrested both last month. Information on the status of Rios' case was not available.
