When the first police officer came face to face with the raccoon, it startled them both. Sgt. Scott Banks came out to the lobby to check on what was happening and saw the raccoon clinging to a door jam.

Another officer grabbed a catch pole to guide the raccoon out the door. But the raccoon didn't want to go. "It wanted back in the building. It fought there at the door trying to get back in. He really didn't want outside, so it likes it here at the new public safety centre. And it wanted to stay," Sgt. Banks said.

The raccoon clung to the front door before finally jumping down and running off into the woods. "I thought he landed pretty well. I give him a 10 out of 10 on that. It was interesting to know that we had raccoons above us the whole time," Sgt. Banks said.
