Lt. Andy Jackson said that a wild turkey was defecating on the hood of his department car at about 7:30am on July 29 and he fired his gun into the air to scare it off after other methods failed.
Chief Deputy Nathan Johns, who handled Jackson’s reprimand, said it was imposed because the lieutenant “Used his firearm outside his training. We don’t train to use our firearm to scare animals off of vehicles,” Johns explained.
Jackson had no comment about his reprimand other than to say, “The sheriff did what he felt like he needed to do and that’s it.”

Not to mention the hazards of firing blindly into the air, the bullet coming down he-knows-not-where.
In Richmond, Va., recently, a young boy was killing by a bullet dropping vertically after being fired in 4th-of-July celebration.
