Australian rules footballer hospitalised with goose-induced pneumonia

Hawthorn Football Club player Jed Anderson is recovering in Royal Darwin Hospital after contracting pneumonia while goose hunting.

The 19-year-old utility player caught the bug while hunting in the Howard Swamps, southeast of Darwin.

His grandfather Jimmy, said Jed had been wading through swamp water in search of geese for long periods.

"He's been crook for a while, probably two weeks, but he's coming good now which is good news," he said. "He was pretty buggered for a while there. These young blokes will never learn."
