Man caught having sex outside Marks and Spencer put on sex offenders register

A man caught having sex with a woman in a lane outside a Marks and Spencer has been put on the sex offenders register. Reece McGregor, 21, admitted a public indecency charge at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday. The court also heard members of the public began taking pictures of the couple during the tryst. McGregor had met the woman, who did not appear and was named in court only as Ms Hodonova, in a pub in the city earlier on the night of June 7.

It is understood Ms Hodnova travelled from the Czech Republic to work as a seasonal fruit picker near Dundee. Mr McGregor's lawyer said the pair had "struck up a friendship" and that "this was the outcome of it". Fiscal depute Laura Bruce told the court that at around 10.25pm CCTV operators had spotted the pair in Dundee's Peter Street - a lane linking the city centre's busy Murraygate and Seagate streets.

The couple were at the end of the lane - clearly visible in Murraygate. She said: "They observed what appeared to be a partially naked male in the street. It transpired both were naked from the waist down. It immediately became apparent they were engaging in sexual intercourse. Members of the public were seen to pass and look towards them. One woman appeared to be shocked by what she had seen. Meanwhile a male took a mobile phone out and appeared to take a photograph. Both the accused and the woman appeared to be oblivious to their surroundings or other members of the public.

"Two police officers attended and upon entering the street both were in full view. One shouted for them to stop immediately and Mr McGregor moved away and pulled up his trousers and underwear." McGregor, of Bennan Gardens, Dundee, pleaded guilty to a charge of public indecency committed on June 7. Sheriff George Way asked: "Was this a commercial transaction?" John Boyle, defending, said: "No - Mr McGregor had been out drinking and had come in to company with the witness. They struck up a friendship and this was the outcome." Sheriff Way deferred sentence on McGregor until next month for social work background reports and released him on bail in the meantime. He said: "You will be placed on the sex offenders register until the date of your sentencing."
