Man impersonated law enforcement officer to secure police discount at Dunkin Donuts

Sheriff's deputies in Pasco County, Florida, arrested a man for impersonating a law enforcement officer at a Dunkin Donuts drive-through so he could get a discount on his order.

Officers said on Nov. 6, Charles "Chuck" Barry, 48, went through the drive through of the Dunkin Donuts in Trinity and showed a law enforcement Sheriff Star Badge as he requested a discount on his order. When his discount was refused, witnesses said Barry showed his firearm and stated, "See I am a cop!" though he never removed the gun from the holster.

Deputies said Barry returned on Nov. 7 and the manager was able to obtain his vehicle tag. On Nov. 12, officers set up a surveillance. That's when deputies spotted Barry leaving Dunkin Donuts and pulled him over. He had a .38 calibre revolver in his front pocket and had a law enforcement badge in his wallet and employees at the Dunkin Donuts were able to positively identify him.

Barry, who actually works as a salesman for a printer, fax, and copy machine supplier, was arrested and charged with False Impersonation of a Law Enforcement Officer, a felony, and improper exhibition of a firearm.
