100-strong dog-catching team finally catch aggressive stray

About 100 city management officers, or chengguan, were sent out on Thursday to catch a vagrant dog that had roamed for years in the Nanyangxincun residential community of Jinshui district in Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan Province.

Officers had tried to hunt it many times because the female dog had bitten several people after the puppies she gave birth to were taken away by animal control personnel. It has given birth to several litters in the past four years.

However, the dog has managed to evade captors every time. Whenever the dog saw police officers in uniform, it would flee. On Thursday, officers tried a different approach by donning plain clothes and carrying nets to search for the stray.

Workers from animal protection associations were also called in to help. Finally, these 100 city management officers and workers cornered the dog and caught it. The dog is expected to be sent to an animal shelter.
