Spooky child mannequin nicknamed Cruella sold for £700

A child-sized mannequin known as Cruella, although more reminiscent of Chucky, that is said to have terrified visitors to Jacksons Corner store in Reading, has sold for £700 at auction after the shop closed.

The sale of lot 54, which was expected to fetch £30 to £50, brought applause from the packed makeshift auction room inside the 138-year-old department store.

The family-owned shop shut on Christmas Eve shut due to poor sales and an expensive repair bill.

A Facebook tribute page to the well-known shop called "The Windows of My Soul", describes Jacksons Corner as a "place for our memories, especially those of that terrifying child mannequin".
