Elderly woman trapped in loft of her home for four days

A woman in her 70s from Geelong in Victoria, Australia, has been rescued after being stuck in the loft of her house for about four days without food and water.

Police say the woman went into up into the roof space on Monday to investigate a draught, but slipped and fell and got stuck. Emergency service personnel had to cut through the ceiling to get to the woman.

John Mullen from Ambulance Victoria says she was treated for dehydration and an arm injury. "The lady was lowered down in a stretcher and then she was treated by the paramedics," he said. "It could've been a lot worse but it sounds as though she'll be fine."
