Stoke-on-Trent City Council is signing up overweight residents for its 10-week £10,000 scheme starting this month. The motivational texts will be sent out every day.
City Councillor Adrian Knapper, cabinet member for health and wellbeing said: "We are recruiting 500 residents to take part in the 10-week feasibility study which will see participants receive daily advice and support through their mobile phones.
