Workers took flight when fighting birds of prey smashed through their office window.
Employees at a National Grid base in Aston, Birmingham, scattered after duelling peregrines careered into the glass.
A contractor donned heavy industrial gloves, risked razor-sharp talons and retrieved the battling falcons from the splinter-strewn office carpet.
One of the birds was released from a broken window and the other was placed outside.
Both birds emerged unscathed.
A National Grid spokeswoman said: “The birds were understandably dazed and workers were shocked.
Thankfully, the falcons landed in a corridor area, quite a bit away from the 12 staff.”
A pair of peregrines have nested for years atop giant claret and blue gas holders that tower 150 feet above the National Grid building.
But things turned decidedly nasty when a third arrived on the scene, sparking an aerial battle.
Stunned employees watched as the warring birds tumbled through the sky, talons locked, before smashing through the window.
