The disappointment of not getting a window seat

Dogs allowed on airplanes?!?! When did this rule go in effect? What about those people that are allergic to animals? Why should they have to suffer?

ADA. The only dogs allowed out in the cabin like that are for people who have disabilities that are likely more of an issue than most people's allergies. A Dr's note is required for it, it has to be a working dog. If there's a conflict with your allergies you can alert the flight crew and they can work to accommodate you. However, most planes have always allowed a certain # of actual pets (dogs, cats, and birds. Usually not rodents, just to protect wiring in case of an escape) in the cabin as long as they stay in their carrier under the seat. Since most allergies come from dander and saliva, this basically insures you're safe from an allergy attack. FYI my siblings are deathly -DEATHLY- allergic to dogs, cats, and birds and have flown frequently with animals in other parts of the cabin with no issue for over 30 years. If they're seated next to one they just ask to be moved to another part of the plane.

Imagine how much his ears would flap if he had his head out the window.

Back before airlines charged for checked bags, I would strive for a bulkhead seat (no need for "under seat storage" when bags are in the belly of the plane). I cannot count the number of times I shared the row with a vision impaired person an a seeing eye dog. Awesome animals, awesome people. KaraBoo
