Three men have been charged after each was caught driving the same vehicle in separate incidents at Argenton, New South Wales, Australia yesterday morning, all allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
At 12.35am on Tuesday police were conducting stationary random breath testing duties when they stopped a Holden utility with three men on board.
The driver, a 45-year-old man from Claremont Meadows, returned a positive roadside breath test. He was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station where he allegedly returned a breath analysis of 0.134. He was charged with a mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA) offence.
At 12.45am – while the driver was at Toronto Police Station – one of the passengers, a man aged 33, got into the driver’s seat and started the ute’s engine. He was stopped by police officers who subjected the man to a roadside breath test.
This allegedly proved positive, and the man, from Oakhurst, was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station where he returned a reading of 0.140. He, too, was charged with a mid-range PCA offence, as well as driving while disqualified.
Ten minutes later, at 12.55am, a 50-year-old man – who had also been a passenger – allegedly drove the same ute a short distance but was stopped by police.
The man, from Claymore, was also subjected to a roadside breath test which allegedly proved positive. He was also taken to Toronto Police Station where he returned a reading of 0.164. He was charged with a high-range PCA offence.
All three men are due to appear in Toronto Local Court on Wednesday 16 April 2014.
