Japanese restaurant gives discounts to bald customers

A recently opened restaurant in the Asaksaka district of Tokyo, the Otasuke, which means "Helping Hands", is offering discounts to those who are losing their hair.

Owner Yoshiko Toyoda says: "I was thinking of some way to help support salarymen, but without a theme the idea was lame. Then one day I was walking downtown and kept seeing bald guys. That was it."

Each bald customer gets a 500 yen (£3.00, $5.00) discount, with the rewards increasing along with the number of bald customers in each group.

A group with two balding men will save 750 yen, three balding men 1,000 yen and four balding men 1,500 yen. Five balding customers will merit you one free buffet. But six bald or balding customers will be treated to a special “top secret” discount, said Toyoda.
