A woman called 999 demanding police come to her house in north west London because ants were crawling under her front door.
Residents are being warned not to abuse the emergency services after the unnamed Brent resident went on to threaten to kill herself and to stab her neighbours when officers failed to rush to her aid.
When they eventually arrived at her home she pointed out the ants before allegedly assaulting an officer.
Chief Superintendent Michael Gallagher, Brent Police borough commander, said:
“If we are needed urgently we will always endeavour to get there as soon as we can,
"But remember 999 should only be used in a genuine emergency and there will be others trying to contact us, often in situations in great need of our assistance.”
