Police called after 'freaked out' cat trapped couple in their bedroom

A Florida woman called police this weekend to report she and her husband were trapped in their bedroom after their cat "freaked out" and attacked them repeatedly.

The cat "ripped us up," Teresa Gregory reported, adding: "We just need her out of our house. We don't know what to do." According to an incident report, officers were dispatched to Gregory's home in DeLand at about 7:15pm on Saturday. "She's never been like this, I don't know what's happened to her.

"It's like she freaked out on us today," Gregory said in a call to police, adding she thought she might have stepped on the cat in the dark, upsetting it. The cat was not up-to-date on its shots, Gregory reported. She expressed concern her pet might attack responding officers. "They might have to shoot her, I don't know," she said.

That didn't turn out to be necessary; DeLand Animal Control officers eventually arrived and took the cat, a 4-year-old Russian Blue named Kush, which will be in quarantine for at least 10 days. Gregory and her husband, James Gregory, suffered scratches to their legs and hands, which were photographed by police, but declined to be taken by ambulance to the hospital.

C'mon. My Big Yellow Kitty does me worse than that just by accident (e.g., by missing the jump from the desk to where I'm sitting in the chair).

Otherwise he's very loving & gentle.
