Traffic policeman taken for ride on bonnet of car

In a recent incident in Chandigarh, northen India, a traffic policeman, who had attempted to stop a youth driving a luxury car while talking on his mobile phone, had to fight for his life after the motorist sped away with the policeman on the bonnet of the vehicle.



Traffic constable Davinder Singh, who has been with the Chandigarh police for the past 14 years, suffered injuries after he was dragged on the bonnet of the car for about a kilometre on Sunday night.

Constable Davinder, tried desperately to stop the car and was seen trying to hit the windcreen of the car with his helmet but the driver did not stop. He finally fell off the car and was taken to hospital.

He later said: “I did my job in a professional manner and will react in the same way in a similar situation in the future to ensure traffic offenders are caught.” Two youths, identified as Aftab Singh and Karambir Singh, from Mohali town, were later booked for the incident. Police officials allege that the youths were drunk when the incident happened. They have been charged with attempted murder.
