A five tonne copper and bronze sculpture has been stolen in a raid on the Watts Estate in Guildford, Surrey police have said.
The contemporary water feature by artist William Pye is said to be worth tens of thousands of pounds.
It was taken from the grounds of the Watts Gallery Estate, home to works by artist GF Watts, on Thursday. Detectives said the theft will have required planning and the use of specialist equipment.
Det Con Matt Denman said: "The theft of this unique water feature will have taken some pre-planning and several people with specialist equipment to remove the item from the site, therefore someone will know who is responsible for the theft. I urge them to share this information with us."

Five tonnes, tens of thousands of pounds.
What is it, the USA and Liberia are still not metric.
Are pounds money decimal now ?
When I was a young fella in Wales and England, a pound had ? 12 shilings, many mnay pennies and it was less than a quid. Oh, and 20 florins was the same as a pound ???
Half crowns were … I have no idea anymore, coming to a modern country in 1966 meant I had to quickly learn metric and decimal.
So much easier, leaves imperial leagues behind !!!
I think the US avoids metric because our so very intelligent Congress can't do the conversions.
