Burst pipe caused 40-foot geyser in residential street

A burst mains water pipe sprayed water 40 feet into the air on Tuesday morning near the centre of Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

The spectacular leak happened at about 3.30am on The Broadway in the town. The water was powerful enough to move a car that had been parked on the road.

The fountain of water crashed down onto the roofs of nearby houses for around five hours. The water had been turned off by 8.30am.
