Council hope residents aren't inconvenienced by temporary bus stop centimetres from closed one

A council have apologised for any inconvenience after a temporary bus stop was installed in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire.

The permanent bus-stop is decorated with red banners reading 'bus stop closed' and 'please use temporary stop'. However, the temporary stop is just a few centimetres to the left of the main sign.

Hertfordshire County Council were unable to say why the temporary bus stop was so close to the closed one. County Hall contractor, Ringway, has been carrying out footway repairs along Cambridge Road.

The temporary bus stop is in place to provide a safe stopping point while works are carried out. A Herts County Council spokeswoman said: "It is unclear whether the temporary stop sign had been moved by a member of public or in error on the council's part or its contractors' part. We hope residents have not been inconvenienced."
