A hospital has apologised after a patient was served a chicken curry and a fruit crumble on the same plate.
The female patient was shocked to discover her main course and pudding were side-by-side when she lifted the lid on her dinner.
The unusual combination was served at St James’s Hospital in Leeds, where the woman was receiving treatment for sickle cell anaemia.
The two dishes were mixing on the plate meaning she was faced with fruity rice and a spicy pudding. Despite being hungry the patient decided she could not face the meal.
Clare Linley, the deputy chief nurse at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has offered an apology.
She said:“I would like to pass on my apologies to the patient and their family for this unfortunate incident. Clearly, this was a mistake and did not meet the high standards that our patients expect or deserve,”

Perhaps I'm a bit cynical this morning, but if that's the worst you have to face in a day, you should be thankful.
Of course, this patient was probably in distress already, and this minor thing just probably pushed things a bit over the top.
But a news item? Seriously?

Yeah, this happens in hospitals all over, every day. If they get enough complaints, they straighten up the kitchen. Is it still the silly season?
That sounds quite an interesting combination to me! Probably saves on washing up too. Though I'm more concerned by the places that stop making ice to save money.
"Despite being hungry the patient decided she could not face the meal." She wasn't all that hungry then. There are millions of people out there that are that hungry.
Sounds like a great combination to me!
