A house has been left seriously damaged after an HGV driver believed to be following his Sat Nav ploughed into the front of it – the second similar accident in just two years.
The incident happened at 2pm on Monday on Ney Road in Ashton, Greater Manchester, leaving the house leaning dangerously to one side.
The driver of the lorry, with Dachser Intelligent Solutions emblazoned down the side, is thought to have followed his Sat Nav down the narrow street, which is unsuitable for larger vehicles.
He then crashed into the house after getting stuck on the road and trying to turn the vehicle around.
Luckily the house was empty at the time and no one was injured.
But the latest incident is the second time an articulated lorry has smashed into the property – after another driver did exactly the same thing in 2013.
Katie Williams, whose dad Steven owns the house, said: “I can’t believe it’s happened again.
I got a call saying there had been an incident and rushed down here. The house looks pretty badly damaged, there’s bricks everywhere and it’s partly leaning to one side.
“Last time it happened we needed to get a whole new gable end and the inside completely redone – it looks like it might be the same this time too.
The road here is quite narrow and so HGVs can’t really get down. The driver said he had been following his Sat Nav. There’s signs telling HGVs not to use it but the driver said he didn’t see them.”
Tameside council safety staff are now working at the house to ensure it is in no immediate danger of collapsing.

Ask your GPS how to get from where you are (or the North American sea port nearest to you) to my house. In any kind of vehicle. Or horseback. Or on foot.
Can't wait for those "driverless" cars; which will be TOTALLY dependent on Sat Navs - GPS in North America.
