Man has ears cut off to look more like his pet parrots

Ted Richards from from Hartcliffe, Bristol, has previously had his face tattooed and his eyeballs inked in a bid to resemble his beloved parrots, Ellie and Teaka.

But now Ted, 56, has taken the drastic step of having both his ears cut off, a move which has left a top plastic surgeon "horrified". Ted is keeping tight-lipped about who carried out the six hour operation bus insists he is "happier than ever."

And Ted says he has given his unattached ears to someone he knows who "will appreciate them" and who is preserving them in resin. Since undergoing the operation Ted says the only issue he has had was keeping his glasses in place.

But said he has had transdermals, an object placed partially below and partially above the skin, inserted on the side of his head to solve the problem. "I think it looks really great," said Ted. "I love it. It's the best thing that has happened to me. I am so happy it's unreal, I can't stop looking in the mirror."

My better half had to get surgery to have her nose bones replaced with a titanium version. This gent is obviously not opposed to body modifications, maybe he could get his nose bones replaced with surgical steel and get magentic pez nez glasses.

I'm surprised he didn't have the ears reattached on his shoulder blades as tiny rubbish wings, or if he decided to change his mind later.

I've never seen a parrot (or any other kind of bird) with plugs and piercings and large pieces of metal hanging here and there.

To me, this is a form of mental sickness. And the doctors allow it to happen. But, as long as the doctor got paid, that's all that really matters. Yay. Although I have this thought that the bird is saying in its mind "I look like that?" and promptly falls off his perch.
