Police are asking shop owners in north Hull to stop selling eggs to young people.
Officers have received several complaints about eggs being pelted at people, cars and homes in recent weeks.
Groups of teenagers have been spotted by officers carrying up to three boxes, each containing 15 eggs.
PC Andy White, based at Hall Road police station, said: "These kids are not going home and making cakes."
Now, officers are asking retailers in Orchard Park and the north Hull estate to stop selling eggs to under-16s.
PC White said: "We have had between ten and a dozen complaints regarding eggs being thrown in the past two to three weeks.
"It is something we are actively trying to stop. It makes sense for us to try to stop youths in the area getting holding of the eggs in the first place.
We have a really good working relationship with the shops in north Hull, so we hope they'll get on board."
PCSOs have been visiting stores across north Hull in a bid to get retailers to agree to the ban.
"They're generally supportive of what we are suggesting," he said.
"We all have an interest in reducing anti-social behaviour in north Hull."
PCSO Emma Morrod said: "Egg-throwing can cause a road traffic collision and it's making motorists in the area very angry.
We've had one instance where a person has tried to assault a youth who threw an egg at their car."
Trade also appears to be taking a hit.
She said: "Takeaways, in particular, are concerned because customers will stay away if there are groups of youths outside throwing eggs."
