The man was in a kayak on Lake Hume on Sunday when he came across the kangaroo.
Believing the animal might have been forced into the water to escape a dog, the fisherman could only watch helplessly as the kangaroo treaded water.

It then started to make for him, possibly sensing food from the man's line. "He can't get in here, I've got a kayak, f*ck that," he says. "He's got a bit of work ahead of him, I think." It is unknown if the kangaroo was eventually able to make it to shore.

Just checked and kangaroos are very good swimmers.
Didn't need guiding, you can tell by the pictures the shore was quite evident. Interfering with nature is a good way to get seriously hurt... or dead.
