Disgruntled guest rammed pick-up truck through hotel lobby because his credit card was declined

An angry man rammed his pick-up truck through the lobby and into the front desk of an Oklahoma hotel as two women had to dive for safety at the last second.

John Edward Parsley, 62, of Gonzalez, Texas, was held on $1 million bond on Monday night in the Woods County Jail on two felony counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of malicious injury to property valued at more than $1,000, according to court records. The incident occurred on Thursday in the town of Alva, about 110 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. No one was injured, but the lobby of the Alva Comfort Inn and Suites was severely damaged.

In video footage taken from three security cameras, the driver of the 2006 Sierra GMC can first be seen talking with a police officer outside the hotel entrance. The video then shows him slam the truck into drive and race through the front entrance and into the front desk, where two women frantically dive for safety. The driver, identified by police as Parsley, backs up, stops and then pulls back in to the lobby. He says something to the women, gets out of the truck and calmly walks back to the entrance with his hands raised.

Police said Parsley told them he drove into the hotel because "they thought he was bluffing, and he proved he wasn't." According to the incident report, Parsley was angered because his credit card was declined twice at the hotel and he had to pay cash. Kingson Christian, the hotel's manager, told investigators that "Parsley stated it wasn't his first bad experience with a hotel manager who was also Indian," according to the incident report. It said Parsley then told the staff that he was going to "run his truck over them and the property."
