Twenty-one firefighters spent almost two hours rescuing dog from drain pipe

Firefighters performed what is called a “technical rescue” on Saturday night to remove a dog trapped in a drain pipe.

At 10:23pm a man and his Great Pyrenees dog became stuck in a drain pipe in Temecula, California, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The man was able to free himself but the dog remained trapped. Twenty-one firefighters spent almost two hours cutting the pipe open to reach the dog, Newman said.

It is not clear how the man or the dog ended up inside the pipe. The dog was freed at 12:06am.
