Couple charged after theft of stuffed animal from child at amusement park led to brawl with family

Police say two adults were arrested after they allegedly stole a stuffed animal from a child and assaulted an entire family at the Great Escape amusement and water park in Queensbury, New York.

Officials say on July 11 at 9:13pm, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Great Escape Theme Park for a reported fight that was occurring inside. After an investigation was conducted, 44-year-old Tyson Mann and 29-year-old Jennifer Boughton, both of Delmar, were arrested.

Mann was charged with the felony of grand larceny, assault in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say Mann was found to have stolen a stuffed animal from a child that was unknown to him. Mann is also being accused of assaulting the child’s family members and causing physical injuries to them after they confronted him about the theft. Boughton was charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and violation of harassment.

Police say she was found to have assaulted a member of the child’s family, and then made death threats to cause physical harm to the family and staff members at the Great Escape. Both were charged with endangering the welfare of a child due to the theft and assaults occurring in front of their children and the children of the assault victims. Both were remanded to police lock-up and are expected to be arraigned in Queensbury Town Court.

Radio station broadcast underwater concert

Hundreds of music-loving snorkellers and divers ducked beneath the waves as an underwater concert was broadcast at the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary last week.

Such songs as the theme from The Little Mermaid, the Beatles' Yellow Submarine and Jimmy Buffett's Fins entertained listeners during the four-hour music session. Some snorkellers pretended to jam underwater on mock guitars or play other fake instruments such as a whimsical fish flute.

Others wore costumes depicting mermaids and seahorses as music sounded from waterproof speakers suspended beneath boats. The so-called Lower Keys Underwater Music Festival took place at Looe Key Reef, part of the continental United States' only living coral barrier reef, located about six miles south of Big Pine Key.

"This is a way for people to really appreciate the coral reef while at the same time listening to an environmental message about coral protection," explained WWUS radio station news director and festival founder Bill Becker. Staged by WWUS in partnership with a local chamber of commerce, the festival featured music specially programmed for the aquatic listening experience. Accompanying the tunes were coral reef conservation messages and tips on environmentally friendly diving practices.

Man upset with messy home ran over trash with lawn mower and stabbed own car with crowbar

A 38-year-old man from Leelanau County, Northern Michigan, was arrested last Sunday night after having what police call a meltdown at his home.

According to reports, the man was dissatisfied with the cleanliness of the home, so he threw trash out onto the front yard.

He then ran over the trash with a lawn mower, threw a carpet cleaner outside, stabbed his own car with a crowbar and threatened a family member.

According to police, the man was then taken into custody, but was later released on a $25,000 personal recognizance bond. Police say alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the incident.

Cat rescued from top of power pole in forest fire zone

With gigantic forest fires raging all around La Ronge, Saskatchewan, Canada, a cat climbed to the top of a power pole but couldn't figure out how to come down on its own.

A sharp-eyed employee of SaskPower spotted the frightened bundle of fur perched on top of the pole last week.

He put on his spiked boots and belt and climbed to the top of the pole, gently removing the cat from its perch and placing it on his shoulder. Then he shinnied back down.

"One of our crews who are standing by in La Ronge to deal with fires just happened to come across the cat, and felt it was the right thing to do," SaskPower spokesman Tyler Hopson said. A forest fire of about 90,000 hectares in area surrounded the town, which was evacuated of most of its residents.

A man was rescued by firefighters after he was trying to coax his cat from a tree.

His owner then clambered up the branches to rescue his pet, but then found himself in need of rescue. He called the fire service and crews from Leigh used a ladder and ropes to bring the man down.

Unfortunately the cat refused to budge and remained in the tree as firefighters tried to coax it to safety. Both the cat and man were unharmed during the 30-minute incident.

Woman driver crashed into seafood van while pleasuring herself with sex toy

A female driver crashed into the back of a van while pleasuring herself with a sex toy. The woman, described as in her 30s, was static in traffic when her Mini suddenly lurched forward and hit the back of the stationary seafood van.

She swapped details with the van driver whose bosses proceeded to check footage from the vehicle's rear camera. To M&;J Seafood's surprise, the video showed a woman holding a Rampant Rabbit-style sex toy and doing up her trousers.

A source said: "A driver was called into the office and feared he was getting the sack. He'd been on his first shift after looking for work for ages. The bosses told him it wasn't his fault and then said 'Have you seen this?'. They all had a good laugh."

The driver was working for M&J Seafood's branch in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. The firm, which refused to identify the driver or release the video, added: "The matter is now in the hands of our insurers."

Football fan found guilty of assaulting steward with inflatable shark

A Grimsby Town fan has been found guilty of assaulting a football steward with an inflatable shark. Kenneth Meech, 51, of Cleethorpes, watched his club win 3-1 at Barnet in a Conference game on 21 February.

Willesden Magistrates' Court heard he assaulted Barnet steward Cgagi Gladyng as he celebrated the victory. Meech, who was among nearly 1,000 fans who travelled to The Hive stadium, denied a charge of common assault.

Mr Gladyng, 59, told the court he was hurt by the inflatable which was being waved "like an axe" and described the three blows to his head "as like being hit by a roll of paper". He said he became frightened as the Grimsby Town fans surged towards the pitch. Meech was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £700 in costs, compensation of £100 and a victim surcharge.

He was not made the subject of a football banning order. Speaking after the sentencing, he claimed the prosecution was a 'waste of the taxpayer's money'. "I'm a bit deflated, to be honest," he said. "Very surprised and shocked by the verdict, but got to respect what the court has said. I think if this didn't happen at football I wouldn't be here today, I'm sure of that."

He suffered a suspected spinal injury and was flown to Poole Hospital for treatment.
