Search and rescue team saved dog after she fell down deep hole

Rescuers hauled a dog to safety after she had fell down a 5m hole at a country park in Wales.

The North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) team were called to help stricken spaniel Molly in Loggerheads Country Park, Denbighshire , at around 4pm on Sunday.

She was on a walk with her owner Neil Partridge from Pantymwyn in Flintshire when she fell in the hole near Devil’s Gorge. Neil realised he wouldn’t be able to rescue Molly by himself and called the team for help.

NEWSAR sent a small party of members who set up a basic rope system and, using a large bag, managed to haul the pooch to safety. Damon Winterbottom, one of the charity’s deputy team leaders, said: “Many people think that NEWSAR just deals with incidents in the hills but we do much more than that. We were pleased to be able to help Neil and reunite him with Molly.”

Theres a video of the rescue here.
