Fishing rods used in One Direction film stolen from owner's home

Fishing equipment used by the pop group One Direction has been stolen from the owner’s home. The rods, used by the band for a video scene in Norway, were taken from Anthony Reed’s garage at his home in Folkestone, Kent.

Mr Reed, 58, said: “Equipment taken was shown being used by the band fishing while being interviewed for a documentary video. “A total 30 rods were taken along with other equipment from the garage, at a total value of £3,500 to £4,000.”

Mr Reed, originally, from Folkestone, met the band when he was running a tourism company in Norway, taking people out for fishing trips. Mr Reed lived in the country for 15 years and moved back to Folkestone at the beginning of this year. Two members of the band were filmed using the equipment in a scene from the 2013 concert film called One Direction: This is Us.

Harry Styles and Liam Payne are shown fishing from a boat in Norway around that May and giving an interview. Mr Reed said: “In that scene they really chilled out and opened up, talking about their lives. Norway was always very laid back and you could leave your back doors open. Just a few months after I come back to Britain I get burgled.”
