Police say remorseful man armed with sharp stone held up store

A man armed with a sharp stone threatened a clerk at a convenience store in Manchester, New Hampshire, and got away with cash, police said.

A witness said he saw a clerk and the robber tumble out of the Shop-N-Go shortly after noon on Tuesday. Witness Saoul Haney said the robber was crying when he fled the area with cash. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in a white shirt and blue pants. He was thin and had a goatee.

"The gentleman who works here was struggling with some other guy when they came out of the store, and the guy that works there was kind of beating him off with a little baton," Haney said. "So I came running down here to see if he needed help, but he was already running away crying, holding his head."

Haney said the robber apologised as he ran away and said he needed the cash. Police released a surveillance video of the robbery. Anyone who recognises the robber or who has information is asked to call the Manchester Police Crime Line. Tips may be eligible for a cash reward.
