Hair of the dog cure saves pet

A vet saved a pet dog who had lapped up deadly anti-freeze — by serving it a large vodka tonic.

Owner Kate Sheppard rushed Teddy the Alsatian to surgery after he leapt over a car’s back seat to drink the electric-blue liquid in a bottle in the boot.

The vet did not have the usual cure — ethanol, neat alcohol — so he pumped a vodka and salt water drip into Teddy overnight.

Kate, 37, of Birmingham, said: “He had quite a hangover . . . but he’s okay.”
