I did the opposite of that once (I wasn't trying to get in, but trying to get out). I had parked on a empty street (in a large old land rover series II), when I came out of my apartment a few hours later cars had parked a inch or two from my bumper in the front and back. The cars were small, so with the jeep in four wheel drive I 'persuaded' the cars in front and back out of the way. At first I was just annoyed at them for their rubbish parking but later I felt a bit bad as it could have damaged their cars.
Quite normal. That's why cars have fenders/bumpers front and back. And that's also why people who do not want their cars to get bumped, take bullbar upfront and a towing-hook at the back.
i do not wish to generalise, but have you ever seen a car in paris without a bump in it ???? me ? rarely seen one.... (ooooh i LOVE driving through the centre of paris : they're nuts.....) (although : rome is worse - sometimes)
Yep, that's pretty close. Except replace "I'm gonna SUE your @#%&" with -INCOHERENT SPUTTERING- and then "GIMME ALL YOUR INFORMATION RIGHT NOW OR I'M CALLING THE COPS!" and then realizing I scared the living daylights out of him and calming down a tad.
He ended up scratching my bumper up pretty badly, and dealing with insurance companies is never fun.
Yeah why else? If fenders were there for decoration, they would have to make fenders on the fenders to protect the decorative fenders- That wouldn't make much sense now would it? ASnd if fenders were there just for decorative purpose, they wouldn't be put there in the 1st place- they would think of something far more attractive.

I remember someone doing this to my car. I walked up just as they did it.
... and? C'mon Monkey_town you can't start a story and then just.
I understand that's standard practice in Paris (shunting parked cars to make room that is, not startting a story & not finishing it!)

Yeah come on monkey_town, don't leave it there. What did you say? What should you do in that situation?
