Hundreds of Gandhis wander India

Indian students have dressed up as Mahatma Gandhi in an effort to spread the message of peace and non-violence, Reuters reports.

Adorned with fake moustaches, bamboo canes and spectacles, and fitted with white cloth, the 255 students walked through Coimbatore city in India's south singing songs.

Some of the students also shaved their heads or covered with hair with cloth to appear bald like Gandhi, the man who non-violently fought for Indian independence.

'Gandhi ji is the father of our nation and he loved peace and non-violence. I am very proud to be as Gandhi ji for a day, for this Guinness World Record, very proud, said Karthic Barathi, a participant.

I prefer the wording from the article:

In keeping with the spirits of the event, 52 of the 255 students chose to shave off their heads.

Ouch! :)
