An Edinburgh zoo chief suspended over claims that he stole from the monkey house is also being probed over a Panda. But the row is over a Fiat car, not a Chinese bear.
Bosses are looking into claims that Gary Wilson, interim chief operating officer at Edinburgh Zoo, arranged for the car to be donated by a hire firm as a raffle prize to help celebrate the planned arrival at the zoo of two giant pandas from China.
It's claimed no car ever arrived. And the "missing" Fiat features in an anonymous dossier of claims against Wilson which the board at the zoo are investigating. A source said: "The Panda raffle was seen as a nice gimmick. Trouble is, no one knows what happened to the car."
Wilson is also being investigated over claims that he handed out envelopes of cash to selected guests at a party to mark the opening of the zoo's new chimp enclosure, stole building materials and ran a fleet of luxury cars.
