British tourists terrified by Majorca coach driver's nervous breakdown

A terrified family have put in a claim from compensation after their Spanish holiday turned into a nightmare when their coach driver suffered a nervous breakdown at the wheel. Mother-of-four Danielle Thompson and her partner Gary Molloy had taken their children to a pirates show when, on the way back to their resort in Majorca, the coach driver suddenly flipped and began braking hard and then accelerating.

Dozens of holidaymakers clung to their seats in horror as he drove straight over roundabouts, banged on the horn and angrily shouted in Spanish while frothing at the mouth. Danielle, from North Shields, said her family feared for their lives as the driver went berserk.

But it was Gary who was hailed a hero after he confronted the hysterical driver who later brandished a stick at frightened passengers. Danielle said: “We started going really fast and straight over roundabouts without slowing.

“The driver was shouting in Spanish and banging on the horn and the steering wheel. Then he pushed on the brakes hard and everyone fell forward. At one point he took off his shirt and threw it out of the window, and by this time everyone on the coach was scared. Gary went to have a word with him but he just braked hard again.”
