Raccoon in tree with face stuck in jar killed

A raccoon in a tree with its face stuck inside a jar for four days in Shenango Township has been destroyed by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

The animal was stuck in a tree near Pennsylvania Avenue. Tammy Yakubic was worried if the animal did not receive help, the raccoon would die.

Yakubic called the Pennsylvania Game Commission, but had initially said the animal was up too high in a tree for it to intervene. "Their hands were tied, unless the animals would actually come down to the ground, which he has not.

"I mean, this is going on four days now, so I didn't know what else to do," Yakubic said. Authorities believed the raccoon was rabid, and shot the animal on Thursday morning.

Yes, rabid... what a convenient excuse to shoot it instead of getting the tools needed to help the poor thing.
