Man threatened to snort ashes of ex-girlfriend's dead sister

Police in Lakeland, Florida, have arrested a 51-year old man for grand theft after he allegedly stole the ashes of his ex-girlfriend's dead sister. But Joseph W. Pointer didn't stop there, police say.

Family members say after stealing the ashes, he told the deceased woman's mother that he was going to snort the remains. Pointer had very briefly lived with Angela Speakman whose sister died in in 2008.



Speakman and her parents share the ashes of her sister, Melissa Williamson, who died in 2008 in a vehicle crash, according to the affidavit. When Pointer moved out last month, Speakman believes that he stole the remains of her sister.

Jail records show Pointer has been arrested twice for battery, once in 2007 and again in 2008. He remains behind bars on $1,000 bail.
