Plans to create a unisex changing
area as part of a leisure centre's £635,000 makeover will be reconsidered due to
hundreds of objections.
Senior councillors will hold a special meeting next week to consider a
300-signature petition against the proposal for Cleethorpes Leisure Centre.
North East Lincolnshire Council said it would create a "family friendly
layout". But Janet Lorand, who started the petition, said the idea was "awful". "I'd never even dreamt that they could do unisex toilets especially, it never
entered my head," she said.
The new changing rooms would include cubicles with baby changing facilities
and individual shower and changing cubicles. The authority said the plans would be put to a panel and its recommendations
would be discussed by the cabinet on Wednesday. Work on the refurbishment is
due to start later this year.

I don't see how this is any different than when you go to some swimming pools and the locker rooms are unisex. I was just in Bath at their thermae spa and it was unisex.
That's what I was thinking too. I see this at swimming pools and it makes sense...although generally the facility also includes male and female only change rooms too.
