Newsreader apologises after giggling through tragic reports

An Australian newsreader had a laughing fit and giggled her way through reports of riots in Brazil and a building collapse in India in which five children died.

Channel Ten Late News presenter Natasha Exelby later apologised, after a joke by a colleague gave her "a case of the giggles" as she tried to read the world headlines.

Exelby could not control her laughter over images of bodies being removed from a collapsed building in Mumbai where five children died.

"I just wanted to apologise I got a case of the giggles a little bit earlier while reading some very serious news and if I have offended anyone I am sincerely sorry," she said at the end of her report.
