Man attacked his mother and her husband with golf club for letting his dog out

A 41-year-old Minnesota man is facing assault charges after he allegedly attacked his mother and her husband with a golf club over an argument about letting his dog out, according to charges filed in Anoka County Court.

Francis Albert Campbell of Maplewood was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault in connection with the incident, which happened in early June. According to the charges, police were called to a house at about 10:30pm on June 3 on a report of an assault in the city of Lexington north of the Twin Cities. When authorities arrived, a man later identified as Campbell was on top of another person punching them repeatedly.

When Campbell saw police, he fled but was apprehended a short time later. Campbell’s mother told police that she and her husband had a conversation with Campbell earlier in the night about letting the dog out.  Campbell became upset, showed a golf club and started hitting his mother’s husband with it repeatedly. The man was able to get away from Campbell and ran to a nearby business. Campbell’s mother told police she saw her son attacking her husband.

Soon after her husband fled, Campbell turned to his mother and started attacking her with the golf club.Campbell allegedly hit her in the face and head with the golf club despite her attempts to get away from him. She also told police he tried to put his fingers in her nostrils and rip her nose off. Campbell is also accused of spitting on a transporting officer as he was being taken to jail. If convicted on all charges, Campbell faces up to 17 years in prison and $34,000 in fines.
