A 21-year-old man from Philomath, Oregon, was arrested last Sunday on multiple charges including driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Corvallis Police say McMakin’s girlfriend told him not to drive after he had consumed alcohol.
She agreed to drive, but his car was a stick shift. Police say she was unable to drive the car, so he got behind the wheel.
She says he drove on the sidewalk, hit a parked car, and drove in the wrong lane.
After he parked, police say she took his keys and told him that he wasn’t allowed to drive. Police say McMakin got upset, threw her down and choked her.
They say he got back in his car, his girlfriend called police, and officers stopped him in traffic.
McMakin is facing multiple charges including strangulation, DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and harassment.
