Legless climber loses fingertips

Mark Inglis, the first person with both legs amputated to climb Mount Everest, had three fingertips removed and frostbite cut from his leg stumps in New Zealand. Mr Inglis, 47, climbed the 8,848m (29,029ft) mountain last month and underwent surgery at Christchurch Hospital. The New Zealander may require a further operation on his leg stumps.

He had his legs amputated after suffering frostbite while climbing Mount Cook in New Zealand.

Whilst I wouldn't wish this upon anyone, it is unfortunate that Mr Inglis chose to not help another injured climber who later died, on his ascent.
